Corey's journey in radio began in April 1982 when his great-uncle, Russell Chaisson, and Joshua Jackson launched KJCB, Lafayette's first Black-owned radio station. As a child, he had the unique opportunity sit in on the Zydeco Gumbo Show with JJ Callier, Sr., which ignited his passion for broadcasting. In 1990 his DJ career blossomed when he substituted for Lester Thibeaux at KVOL 1330 AM , and under the mentorship of John Broussard and program director Marcus “Dr. Boogie” Dauterive, he took over the KJCB zydeco show in 1991 with “The Hot Zydeco Show.” While pursuing a degree in Mass Communication at USL, Corey also contributed to KRVS FM 88.7, before making his mark at KFXZ Z105.9 FM in 2011.
